I will try this method first and if I have any problems go to Russell's formula. The only thing that is slightly annoying is that the scanner needs to be powered when the system boots, otherwise it is not recognised, but I believe this is true of all SCSI devices. I was hoping that it would show up in the device manager with a question mark and that windows would be able to find a generic driver, but no such luck. If needs be, I could always buy a cheap computer with windows XP, but it would be nice if I could get it to work on Windows 7.

IOW, I think you're making this harder than it needs to be trying to use operating systems other than the one you're using on your primary PC to interact with your scsci card and attached devices to it ; when there appears to be a solution that should be easy to implement in Win 7.

I recently purchased a Minolta Scan Dual film scanner to scan some negatives and slides that I have had for years. As Keith said, If you can't get it to work in 7 asaptec you might try XP in a virtual machine. Thanks anyway and I will let you know the outcome.
